FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept Health Insurance?

Mind and Body Family Wellness is a direct pay office. This means we do not accept or file health insurance. However, we are happy to supply the proper documentation for you to submit to your insurance company. We do accept HSAs and FSAs.

Why do we not accept Health Insurance? For the most part, Health Insurance is concerned with “sick care”. It allows a limited amount of visits with a limited amount of reimbursement, often having many stipulations that can affect how the provider can administer care. The insurance companies end up dictating care instead of the doctor and the patient. When the third party is removed from the equation, then you can really take your health in your own hands.

Mind and Body Family Wellness is a just what the name implies - a Wellness facility. Our vision is not an office of sick patients, but a community of practice members who consider their visits to be part of their wellness routine.

Does Mind and Body Family Wellness accept Medicare patients?

Unfortunately, because Mind and Body Family Wellness is a direct pay office only, Medicare patients cannot currently be seen due to legalities surrounding CMS Healthcare and direct pay practices.

Do I have to get “popped”?

Even though Chiropractic is often associated with “popping and cracking”, there are many ways to deliver a specific chiropractic adjustment without the “crunch”. Dr. Jessica practices a variety of techniques, some which involve the traditional manual adjusting and others which utilize more gentle modalities, such as Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) and Koren Specific Technique (KST). Her well-rounded approach to care makes Chiropractic accessible to a wide variety of patients with individual technique preferences and needs. Please let Dr. Jessica know any concerns or questions you have about Chiropractic techniques.

Are there any side effects to the Chiropractic adjustment?

There can be many side effects to getting a chiropractic adjustment! Among the most commonly reported are feeling more relaxed and calm, experiencing increased mobility of the spine, improved focus, more restful sleep, a decrease in pain, better balance, enhanced immune function, lessened stress, and overall just feeling “lighter”.

Other side effects of adjustments may include a brief period of muscle soreness, fatigue, or minor headache. These may be the result of the body starting to move and communicate with the brain again. Ask your chiropractor if you have any questions about side effects of Chiropractic care.

How often should I see a Chiropractor?

It really depends on the person and what is going on with the body.

Chronic Pain: For people who have experienced chronic pain and are just starting chiropractic care, the doctor may recommend coming in once or twice weekly for a period of time.

Minor Set-back: For those who have been feeling well but experience a fall or illness, they may need to come in two-three times for a week or two to “get back to normal”.

Pregnancy: When growing a baby, women need consistent support to help accommodate the rapid changes of the gestating body. Most pregnant patients visit every 2-4 weeks for the first two trimesters and weekly for most of the third trimester. After giving birth to a new bundle of joy, new mamas help their body recover by receiving gentle adjustments weekly for 6-8 weeks.

Newborns and Infants: After an exciting exodus from the womb and a bright welcome into a whole new world, many newborns need a gentle adjustment to balance their nervous systems and assist in laying the best possible foundation for their new lives. Dr. Jessica suggests adjusting once a week for the first few weeks of life. For the remainder of the first year, it is recommended your child is checked at least monthly as they make many major life transitions in a short period of time.

Wellness or Maintenance: Most of Dr. Jessica’s patients use Chiropractic care to complete their wellness routine and keep them at the top of their game. For those patients, Dr. Jessica recommends coming once every 2-6 weeks, depending on the individual needs and preferences of the patient.
