Physical, chemical and emotional stressors to the body are considered and assessed for each patient. A personalized plan is presented to each patient to help them optimize their expression of true health and wellness.

Holistic Chiropractic Care

At Mind and Body Family Wellness, the primary health care modality is Chiropractic Care. Dr. Jessica, owner and fourth-generation Chiropractor, uses a blend of adjusting techniques including Diversified manual techniques, as well as, light touch techniques that do not include the traditional “popping” and “twisting”, such as Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) and Koren Specific Technique (KST). She incorporates a well-rounded variety of techniques so each person she helps will be comfortable with their care.

What is Chiropractic Care?

According to the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, Chiropractic is “a healthcare discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. In addition, doctors of chiropractic recognize the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interest of the patient.”

 As D.D. Palmer, creator of Chiropractic, expressed it, “The power that made the body, heals the body.” However, when the brain cannot properly send or receive messages to the rest of the body, it becomes more difficult to properly recover and heal. There are physical, chemical and emotional stressors which inhibit proper communication between the brain and body.

Physical stressors cause a decrease in proper motion of the spine, cranials, and extremity joints. When an area of the spine no longer moves correctly, the brain stops getting updated information from that part of the body. Much like a computer working on an outdated version of software, there may still be function but it isn’t as clean and quick as desired. Delivering a chiropractic adjustment to a restricted area of the spine can help restore normal motion and improve overall function and health.

Chemical stressors include anything that causes inflammation in the body: smoking, medications, vaccinations, certain cleaning products, pesticides, pollution, and more. By recognizing and removing these stressors, our body’s are more free to properly recover and heal.

Emotional stressors may be root cause of many of the physical and chemical inhibitors of health. These may include traumas from the past, like abuse, poor romantic relationships, bullying, witnessing intense events, death of a loved one, and so on. By addressing the physiological component of current and past emotional stressors, the body can be more free to express wellness.

Chiropractors conduct a thorough history and examination of each individual patient to determine causes of nervous system inhibition.

At Mind and Body Family Wellness, we take into account the physical, chemical and emotional stressors that inhibit proper nervous system communication, influencing the ability of the body to function properly. Dr. Jessica listens to the concerns and needs of each patient, performs a comprehensive exam to determine the physical stressors of the body, delivers a specific chiropractic adjustment, discusses chemical changes to help the body decrease inflammation (dietary changes, adding vitamins and supplements, using essential oils, etc.), and addresses the emotional component of physical health with Neuro Emotional Technique.

Emotional Balancing

In order for each of us to experience personal well-being and growth, our mind and body must be able to maintain equilibrium and flexibility when encountering challenges and changes in our lives. Having a healthy emotional balance is imperative to experience good physical health, and is necessary for growth and personal wellbeing. Experiencing negative thoughts or emotions is normal, but when we get “stuck” in a negative pattern, we may lose the ability to return to our normal, balanced state.

Emotions require a chemical cycle to be fully released from the body, and when that cycle is interrupted it causes physiological symptoms. These symptoms may manifest as muscle and joint pain, phobias, sleep disorders, heightened stress, short tempers, emotional outbursts, eating disorders, addictions, and so on. As that unfinished cycle is “re-triggered”, those symptoms can come up again and again.

Emotional balancing is the art of detecting, acknowledging, and releasing trapped emotions that were never properly processed. Dr. Jessica uses Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Koren Specific Technique (KST), and her own gift of detecting emotional stressors to help patients peel back layers of emotions that inhibit them from living their best life.

Nutritional Advice

In a quest to feel and function our best, it is absolutely essential to nourish our bodies with proper nutrition. When the body doesn’t have what it needs, inflammation occurs and pain/lack of function eventually follows. Dr. Jessica will assess your current nutritional needs and make suggestions on how to convert current eating habits to a more beneficial method of making food choices. Along the way, you will learn more about food and how it affects your body. Dr. Jessica hopes each patient will feel empowered to rely on his or her own judgement for making healthier food choices. Before you know it - eating healthy foods will become a lifestyle!

Lifestyle Guidance

Dr. Jessica won’t follow you around, but she will ask a lot of questions to help understand which areas of your daily routine could use a little shift to make a big change in your overall quality of life. She provides education and guidance to help you create new behaviors that will both complement your lifestyle and enhance your health at the same time. Lifestyle guidance may include topics such as sleeping habits, work ergonomics, exercise and stretching routines, rehabilitation programs, changing out household cleaning products, adding in meditation, and much more. It all depends on what YOU need to live your life to the fullest.
