Dr. Jessica enjoys working with a wide variety of people. She is a skilled adjuster, communicator, and educator. Although she cares for men and women from all walks of life, she has a few specialty areas that set her apart from the average chiropractor.

Newborns

Your baby is finally here! After many months in the womb and a grand entry into the world, you now get to care for your newborn child. Chiropractic can benefit even the tiniest of humans as they get their start in the world. A chiropractor will assess your baby for any neurological concerns, release muscle tension, and gently restore proper motion to the spine and cranium. When your baby’s body can function properly, growth and development can progress normally. Why would a baby need an adjustment? There are many reasons to have your sweet baby checked by your pediatric chiropractor. In utero, sometimes babies spend months in a less-than-ideal position (for example, a breech baby), which can cause tension or restrictions in the baby’s body. If the mother or the parents undergo an intense emotional experience, this can also affect the overall health of the baby. In the case of a difficult or strained labor or birth, there may be physical or emotional trauma that could be helped with a gentle chiropractic adjustment. Even an uneventful pregnancy and birth can be hard on the child’s body. Other reasons to seek out chiropractic care include, but are not limited to:

  • Colic
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty Nursing
  • Dislike of Tummy Time
  • Ear Infections
  • Jaundice
  • Lip/Tongue Tie
  • Low Birth Weight
  • Painful Latch
  • Poor Sleeping Habits
  • Slow Development/Behind on milestones
  • Slow Weight Gain
  • Traumatic or Fast Birth
  • Anything that mom intuitively feels “isn’t right”

Ask your chiropractor if you have any questions or concerns.

Children

Have you even been frustrated because your child wasn’t sleeping well, couldn’t seem to kick a never-ending cold, or always seemed to go crazy in public places? How many times have you winced because your child ran into a wall, caught the edge of the counter, tripped and fell on the floor, or hit his head at the playground? Even though children seem to “bounce”, it can be very beneficial to have them under regular chiropractic care. By addressing nervous system health at a young age, children can build a strong foundation for their future. Routine checks may help prevent those little bumps and falls from turning into a bigger problem in the future, like low back pain, knee aches, or terrible posture. Gentle adjustments may also help balance the nervous system and improve sleeping habits, emotional stress, and immune system function, among other things. A Doctor of Chiropractic will assess, adjust, and make lifestyle suggestions to help your child minimize unnecessary stress in the body, allowing him or her to focus on the important stuff - growing, learning and having fun!

Athletes

From little leaguers to weekend warriors, regular chiropractic care helps keep you healthy and in the game. By addressing any fixations in the joints of the spine and extremities, adjustments keep your body moving and recovering well so you can perform your best. Nutritional guidance and emotional balancing ensure you have the energy and confidence to pursue your goals and enjoy the process.

Pre-Conception

Motherhood is a very special gift, and parenting responsibility begins before baby is even conceived. In an ideal situation, both the mother and father-to-be would prepare an ideal environment to create life and nurture that life as it grows. This preparation includes eating a healthy diet for at least 6-12 months to repair the lining of the gut to allow for proper absorption of nutrients. It also allows for the removal of toxic substances that build up in the body from poor dietary choices and habits. Preparation also involves stretching and strengthening the body through intentional movement and exercise to help physically support a healthy pregnancy. Besides nutrition and exercise, it is also recommended that both parents assess their emotional health by reducing stress, working on a solid relationship and processing old traumas. Chiropractic adjustments and education can help with all of these physical, chemical and emotional components as you start the journey into parenthood.

Pregnancy

Throughout pregnancy, chiropractic care can help support and prepare the mother and her body for a successful labor and birth. Gentle techniques are used to adjust the spine and pelvis to create an ideal environment for the growing baby. Adjustments can also help to minimize pain and stress throughout gestation, keeping the spine and pelvis properly aligned and moving to best accommodate for the developing life inside. Dr. Jessica uses special pregnancy pillows to make adjustments comfortable and enjoyable for the mom, always taking into consideration each woman’s preference for adjusting techniques. Dr. Jessica is certified in the Webster technique, a chiropractic technique focused on helping women through their pregnancies and addressing breech baby position in utero.
